If you have school-age children, then chances are primary education is important to you. The public Bellevue School District is home to 27 schools, which include 15 elementary, one Spanish immersion elementary, five middle schools, four high schools and two district-wide choice schools for grades six through 12.
In recent years, publications like Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report and the Washington Post have named Bellevue's high schools (Bellevue High, Interlake High, Newport High and Sammamish High) some of the best high schools in America. Depending where you live, parts of Bellevue also lie within the school districts of Lake Washington (in the north), Renton (to the south) and Issaquah (in the southeast).
If you're looking for private schools, you'll find a number of faith-based locations like the Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle, which serves students pre-K to eighth grade. There's also the Bellevue Christian School, which is interdenominational. You'll also find a number of Montessori schools and even a Waldorf Education School on the Eastside at Three Cedars School. Being only one of 200 schools nationwide, Three Cedars School recognizes children's cognitive, emotional and behavioral development are interlinked so teaching revolves around focusing on all stages of child development.
For people seeking higher education, Bellevue is also home to Bellevue College (BC), which offers transferable Associates Degrees, and City University of Seattle, which offers certificates, associates, bachelors, masters and doctoral programs. Northwest University is a private college also located nearby in Kirkland.
