The district, which has an enrollment of around 5,400 students, owns and operates seven schools--four elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. In addition to the public schools, there are number of private schools in the region. These include Austin Waldorf School, St. Andrew's Episcopal School and Bannockburn Baptist Christian School. Of course, for higher education, nearby Austin is home to the University of Texas at Austin as well as Texas Health and Science University and the Art Institute of Austin.
