One of the great things about buying an Issaquah home is you're never too far from some fantastic events. It seems like no matter what time of the year, you'll find something fun to do.
Without a doubt, Salmon Days is one of the biggest events you'll find in the area, so let's get a closer look at this festival, as well as other events not far from your neighborhood.
Salmon Days is actually an international award-winning festival held on the first full weekend of October. It's so large that it draws close to half a million people every year. In addition to celebrating Issaquah's history and culture, many Northwest artisans showcase, and sell, their creations. Plus, there are sporting events like fun runs, bike rides, golf tournaments and fencing competitions.
Of course, no Festival is complete without a grand parade, an assortment of foods of the world or local entertainers and you'll find that too at Salmon Days.
Throughout the year, other popular festivals and events include the Northwest Paddling Festival that brings retailers, manufacturers and athletes together. At this event in May they share their love of paddle sports including paddle boards, canoes and kayaks.
If you love classic cars or hydroplane you don't want to miss the Fenders on Front Street or Tastin' & Racin Hydro Races, respectively, held in June. For Independence Day, there's the Down-Home Fourth of July Heritage Day with its pets and children parade, as well as a host of games and fun activities.
For music lovers, there's Concerts on the Green, which run from July to August. December brings the Reindeer Festival at the Cougar Mountain Zoo where kids can meet Santa and his reindeer team.
