If you love outdoor recreation then Issaquah is the town for you! You'll find many cultural and historical activities just steps from your front door. For example, the neighboring highlands here are called the Issaquah Alps and they feature three mountains: Tiger Mountain, Squak Mountain and Cougar Mountain. These locations are filled with hiking trails and at the base you'll find a 32K sq. foot community center. So let's take a few moments to explore a few recreations of Issaquah you might enjoy.
First, the community center features everything sports lovers might love: a running track, fitness area, computer lab, youth center and three multi-purpose sports courts.
Second, if you like to swim year-round, the Julius Boehm Pool, owned and operated by the City of Issaquah's Parks and Recreation Department, is waiting for you. If you just want to be outdoors you've got 18 parks nearby that feature a multitude of amenities like baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, trails, play equipment and picnic tables for dining alfresco.
For those seeking something a bit more on the daring side, Tiger Mountain is a favorite location for para-gliders and hang gliders at "Poo Poo Point," located on the west end of Tiger Mountain. On the north side of Issaquah, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy Lake Sammamish State Park - a 512 acre day use park on the shores of Lake Sammamish, with more than one mile of beachfront access and 9 boat ramps.
And of course, Issaquah is located at the gateway to the Cascade Mountain range and foothills - with Interstate 90 providing easy access to abundant year-round mountain activities, including hiking, boating and skiing.
