Green Lake Park - Seattle

Green Lake ParkEvery major city seems to have a green, quiet oasis that draws locals and visitors alike. For many Seattle residents, that sanctuary is Green Lake Park. Located in north central Seattle, the freshwater lake, which was dug out 50,000 years ago by the Vashon glacier, attracts people who love to get outdoors.

One of the main enticements here is the 2.8 mile track that surrounds the lake, perfect for walking or jogging. You can also rent a kayak or play a few holes of Pitch 'n' Putt. Indoor institutions include the Green Lake Library, with its stunning view of the surrounding area, and the Bathhouse Theater.

The neighborhood of Green Lake, lies north and east of the park and is home to many popular restaurants and music venues. Less than two miles to the south is Wallingford, which itself overlooks Lake Union and is home to the world-renowned Gas Works Park. Only five miles from downtown Seattle's Pike Place Market, it makes for a pleasant short jaunt from concrete to grass.

Green Lake Park is located at 7201 E Greenlake Drive N. and is open 24 hours per day. You can visit the Green Lake park website for more information. Moving to Seattle? Search all homes for sale in Seattle.
